Cyber Security

The bottom line...

The safety and security of data is one of the hottest topics in the IT and wider world today. Paradoxically, it is a much neglected priority for many small to medium sized businesses.

And we understand why; your to-do list is infinite.

But trust is currency, particularly when it comes to eCommerce, so the cost of not securing your data has never been higher. Whether that data is your customer’s personal information, internal messages, confidential financial documents or your secret recipe, we want to help you keep it safe

The good news is that we can help you assess and modernize your security protocols, and give you peace of mind that you are doing everything you can to protect your customers, your suppliers and your business.

How does a breach affect a small business?

This video tells an all too common story of how a data breach can have a huge impact on small businesses.

With companies such as BA and Facebook being issued record fines for security breaches, no one is immune.

Are you taking your security seriously? If you’re worried or not sure where to start, let us make sure you measure up.

How can IT Support Partners help?

Many businesses simply aren’t aware of their vulnerabilities. Are you?

ITSP offer a free risk assessment to all our current and future clients to help you identify potential threats. This is a great opportunity to understand what you are doing right and where you can improve.

Here are some other ways we can help protect you on an ongoing basis:

  • Education – The first step is understanding the issues so we’ll take time to talk to you about social engineering, phishing attempts and other tactics used by people trying to gain access
  • Back ups – Designing and implementing a back-up system, including off site storage in our data centre
  • Patch management – ITSP can take care of the ongoing administration of your security updates, one of the most basic security protocols which is commonly forgotten or put off for later
  • End Point Protection – A mixture of anti-virus, firewall control, inventory control, software catalogues and more
  • Vulnerability Management – permission architectures, vulnerability scanning, policy guidance, security certification assessments
  • SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) Administration  – ongoing, real-time analysis of security alrets generated by applications and hardware on your network
  • Disaster Recovery and Contingency Planning – helping you to put a plan in place to protect your business should it be hit by an unexpected event

Why being protected is so important

Do you work in a regulated industry?

Many industries are introducing data security regulations for their suppliers, so if you work in the financial, medical, government or education sectors (to name a few), you may be required to complete a security certification (or show evidence of your security procedures) to become an approved supplier.

If you’re bound by such industry regulations , then you simply cannot afford to be complacent about your system’s potential vulnerabilities. You wouldn’t leave your doors open at night but having poor security procedures may pose a far greater risk to many companies.

All too often, it’s only once a breach has occurred that businesses truly realise the impact. It could be compared to having a flood in your offices and realising you don’t have insurance.

Get certified with Cyber Essentials

ITSP works with Cyber Essentials, which is a UK Government backed scheme to asses and establish the fundamental security requirements a business should have in place to secure themselves against common cyber threats.

The certification includes an in depth self-assessment questionnaire and an external vulnerability scan. We can help you prepare for and navigate the process ensuring that any flaws we find along the way can be put right.

What are the benefits of certification?

  • The structured framework supports the protection of your business against common cyber threats
  • Peace of mind that you’re doing the right thing when it comes to security
  • It assists with GDPR compliance

How will it help my business?

  • You will be entitled to display the certification badge, declaring  that your organisation meets Government endorsed standards
  • Your customers will have the peace of mind that you are safe to do business with
  • You will be eligible to bid for Government contracts

Is certification right for my organisation?

There are two levels of certification, Basic and Plus.  We recommend that all businesses complete the basic certification as standard.

The Plus certification includes an independent on site external assessment. This is suited to businesses working with commercially sensitive or highly confidential information or who wish to show their clients they have gone that extra mile.
