Data Recovery

There are times when there is no alternative but to try to recover files from a defective hard disk. This is a specialised process that involves a set of steps with increasing complexity and cost.

A disk may become inaccessible for a number of reasons e.g. component failure, file corruption, virus attack, lightning strikes, system crash, physical damage, even power surges have been known to damage computer hard disks.

Symptoms
If you get error messages on screen like any of the following then your hard disk may be inaccessible.

Inaccessible boot device
No operating system found
I/O error please replace disk
Non system disk error.

If the disk is making a clicking sound then components may have been damaged.

ITSP can handle the recovery of data from a broken hard disk for you. We can also recover files from USB key drives, external usb drives, CDROMs, laptop disks and DVDs.

The Process
We begin by doing an initial diagnosis to establish how much data can be recovered. We then quote a price for extracting the data and finally we recover the data and send it to you on the media of your choice. Your data will be kept confidential at all times and we will not retain any data after the work is completed. We also keep you up to date with progress throughout the process.

NB: You will only be charged for recovered data, if we are unable to recovery any data then you will not be charged for this part of the process.

If the device needs further specialist work to recover data then we refer clients to our partner Ontrack DataRecovery who have extensive cleanroom facilities and recovery tools. At this stage the initial diagnosis costs £100 +VAT and then Ontrack produce a quote for the cost of recovering the data.
